Missouri Prison Reform received the following messages from two different residents in two different Missouri prison. Some edits were made for clarity.
I understand they are unpaid slots but what I’m saying is there are no pay slots in this facility besides the chair factory and work release who are the only people who make more than $10.00 a month. That’s what I’m saying, they say this camp is under a pay freeze or some crap when we ask about it.- Bobby Johnson
So, Every Friday count is prolonged from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm, this has been done intentionally. It prevents religious services and access to law library. Here is the critical issue when we mention law library, when it comes to me making copies of case law off of lexisnexis, I have to wait one entire week before I can go to the law library and pick the copies up. But again, count is never cleared, and we don’t get law library, so there are no copies that can be picked up. This process has been going on like this for almost two years, the administration will lie and say they are working on this problem, but they are not attempting to fix this issue at all. We have also asked the administration to allow us to purchase the lexisnexis app. Their response was nope and they make up excuses. Securus told us the administration will not give the green light such an important app, so we actually are continuously denied law library and there is nothing being done to end this gridlock.

My fiance sent a reply email to MPR, and the CO’s denied it being sent out. Why does this happen? Why do the mail room CO’s feel the need to keep it all hush hush. If they would fix the things that are promised, the inmates wouldn’t feel the need to try to get it fixed another way.
