Prison Residents Blamed For Contraband; What Will Be Taken Next?

By July 24, 2023No Comments

Missouri Prison Reform received the following message from a resident of a Missouri prison. Some edits were made for clarity. Names were redacted by Missouri Prison Reform.

Digital mail doesn’t work, it’s a form of punishment. The drugs DOC staff said came from postal mail being sent into our prison system is still coming in even after they’ve taken the mail. Next the visits will be taken, and the drugs will still come into the prisons while they punish us with the video visits. DOC hates to think that SOME of their staff are corrupt and untruthful. But if they were to have to wear body cams to correct all situations (safety and security) a lot of things would stop. One thing for sure is, none of us prison residents leave here daily, and the mail has stopped but the same thing still goes on and people incarcerated are still dying daily. Narcan is still being used to saved lives, but stupid MODOC staff continue to blame people incarcerated, who live here. Taking our privileges only help the staff shortages. If there are no visits there’s no need for guards in the visiting room, right??? The mail privileges have already been taken and there’s no difference in the contraband coming into the prison. So, tell me why are all the privileges being taken if there are no changes? Body cams would make a big difference in the way prison (custody and guards) do things around here. The staff refuse to use security cameras to assist people incarcerated being acquitted for conduct violations, but they use them for the benefit of the staff only. Staff lie and free case people incarcerated, and cameras don’t lie when reviewing them so body cams with every staff walking into these would change the way things are done and prevent the drugs from being introduced into prisons. Giving us our mail back and leaving our visits as they are now would be a big improvement for DOC. Look at the staff who are struggling with bills and need extra money would be the first place to look at where the drugs come from.
