Missouri Prison Reform received the following message from a resident of a Missouri prison.
Some people incarcerated treasure physical mail as it is more personal, and in the event of losing a loved one having a tangible memory means so much more than looking at a digital copy. Also cards being able to display on desk raises morale and having connections that are personal makes people incarcerated less likely to commit future crimes. Luckily, I still have some physical cards and letters from loved ones that I can hold in my hand when lonely and feel connected to that person to bring me through the hard times. My people are all out of state and I don’t get visits so the physical mail was an important part of my life and feeling connected to my family who I haven’t physically seen in over thirteen years.
