Missouri Prison Reform received the following message from a resident of a Missouri prison. Some edits were made for clarity. Names were redacted by Missouri Prison Reform.
“Listen one of the issues in here is the staff!! They, as in the case of ***** let their mouth write a check their ass can’t cash! They think and believe that that badge and radio are or will save them and they are wrong! I watched as ***** a co that once worked here you remember ****** ***** , I watched as ***** took his towel and told ****** to get out and ****** replied that he will just as soon as he was given his towel back well ****** had to get dressed and when he went up to this officer to get his towel back from him , ***** said that ****** ,who was blind in one eye , assaulted him , and then tackled ****** to the ground and radioed for help . after they took ****** away he ***** bragged about how he put the MMA moves down on an old man! This happened shortly before he got out when ****** was placed In p.c. for his protection. After he was released from the hole, they put him back in GP! Why? Staff assaults ain’t got nothing coming but a hard way to go. THE ice machines go down so much b/c the people here don’t know how to fix them, and they have them in a small walkway that doesn’t allow the heat to dissipate the way it’s supposed to! The new food company was great at first a just went straight south! Our food seems to be walking out both doors from my understanding! We have had too many food substitute’s running out of food the wrong food served and it just keeps going! YES, THIS IS PRISON! YET THIS IS NOT PART OF MY SENTENCE! let’s take a look at these mattresses when new comfortably, 6 months or less depending on how much u weigh! I’m 223lbs yes, I’m a fat but! DOC could spend their money a lot wiser, yet they waste more than not! Staffing issues are causing a big issue! Industry works 4 to 6 days a week 10 hours a day! Yes, I know oh Boohoo! Yet we only get 60 cent an hour and lead men like 91 cents. So, we like to have our time with guys we have developed bond’s with and play sports and walk the team and such. Well with the staffing issues 9 x’ s out of 10 our rec gets killed on the weekend due to yep u guessed it staff shortage and if u say anything they use the threat of 7 and 8 house to shut u up! back in the day we’d made them stand on that! Alas we don’t have convicts anymore! inmates! let me ask u this. On the street, I may have already l just would like an answer, if u had a really bad burning sensation in your brain pan and other issues € loss of vision spreading burning sensation pain pressure nausea, triggering migraines what do u think a real doctor would do? and how fast? b\ c mine has been goin on now since the end of march and gettin worse it seems like daily! They finally fixed one tooth and promised to get me in the following week to fix the other one; they lied! Again! I also was told that my body cured my hep c., OK that’s a problem because when I did the blood test for the hep and aids and other crap I was cleared unless they lied to me just so they won’t have to treat me! That happens A LOT! Misdiagnosed so they don’t have to do a thing for u and their corner is in their pocket and they tell the public they died of natural causes! There is nothing natural about overdosing! They need to do a federal audit on the medical care, lack thereof, and the deaths of these prisons! There is so much more I want and need to tell u all yet are people goin to listen? do they care?”
